Do. Make. Say. Think.
“Where would I go, if I could go, who would I be, if I could be,
what would I say, if I had a voice?”
-Samuel Beckett-
It might be commonly assumed
or acceptable
that the same and the other,
the other the same,
identify “identity”
having to do with movement and rest,
absence and the nothing between.
In other words,
going and being,
and the voice that speaks them,
and once the saying then the I
and once an I there must be other.
Spinning there
we might say
that there is no movement discernible
without rest
no resting, still;
saying behavior
implies in-between
riding the breath of nothing
why the scientist might say
not the stars nor the eye
but light bouncing to and fro;
or that “readiness is all”
(the philosopher poet)
envisioning virtue
or ontology,
finding invisible grounds
for belief.
Like religion or medicine,
science or language,
some signage of the distance void.
Interaction rendering solipsism
cellularly, by the instant,
if there be passing or change –
and there is –
or you are unable this letter to read
or that –
the same, the other
another naming
of indissoluble problems
that there is
and there isn’t
(the perhaps and the might-not-be)
movements one to the other
the rest residing between
a different way of saying
